In my art, I collect everyday scenes, objects and impressions in which I find meaning. With their pieces I make abstract collages of the world, so as to depict a portrait of another reality inherent in our own. The presence of decay, attrition and abrasion are of great importance in my work, forgotten objects, the rust - what remains before latency; where they appear as abstract backgrounds and objects in lake beds of paint. As a counterbalance, play and its condition - elements childish, iconographic and fairytale-like; bright colours, the assumption of animated roles by objects, equate the withering of decay with the vitality of play. When I work, I don't aim for something sublime, new or wonderful. I look for a scene that will make my eyes open wide.
